Wine, Cheese, and Art Anyone?

The Ware is not only next door to Transfer Co (#raleighsfoodhall) and in a prime walking location for great restaurants and the greenway, but it also is just blocks away from some of the best art in Raleigh. And the best night to see that art is on First Friday.

first friday art in downtown raleigh

On the first Friday of every month, from around 6PM to 9PM galleries, bars, retailers, and museums in and near downtown Raleigh open their doors. They welcome everyone from around the Triangle, from serious art buffs to gallery first-timers. Not only do you see the latest exhibits from established local artists, but here you can catch the rising stars of the local art scene and guest artists from all over the country.

You don’t have to be a serious art lover to enjoy it either; think of it like a downtown showcase festival. Retailers stay open late, bars and restaurants offer First Friday specials, and live music can be heard throughout downtown. With over 100 participants in downtown Raleigh, there’s something for everyone. Maybe you want to meet the artists and see them sculpting in action at Artspace. Maybe you want to head upstairs for a drink at the Architect for little background art and live music. Maybe you want to try a First Friday tequila flight special at Centro. Did I mention it’s BOGO at the Cupcake Shoppe Bakery at Glenwood South? Oh yeah, and just about every gallery has a bit of wine and light refreshments waiting for you to sample while you admire the art. Follow all the happenings with #TGIFFR, because in Raleigh, First Friday is the ultimate downtown experience!
